Shopify SEO that starts with what the platform gets wrong.
Shopify quietly creates duplicate URLs, splits your collections across filters, and ships themes heavy enough to fail Core Web Vitals. Fix the platform problems first, the content work is wasted until you do.

Shopify is a good commerce platform with some genuinely awkward SEO defaults. Products live at two URLs at once. Collection filters generate near-duplicate pages by the thousand. Themes ship with more JavaScript than they need. None of it is fatal, but all of it is holding you back before you write a single word of content.
So we fix the technical layer first, then build the collection and content structure that actually earns rankings. Doing it the other way round is how agencies produce reports full of activity and no revenue.
What's costing you
enquiries right now.
Duplicate product URLs
Shopify serves the same product under /products/ and /collections/x/products/, splitting signals unless canonicals are handled correctly.
Filter pages eating your crawl budget
Faceted navigation generating thousands of thin near-duplicate URLs that Google wastes its time on.
Themes that fail Core Web Vitals
App scripts and unoptimised images, on a platform where you don't control the whole stack.
Manufacturer product descriptions
The same copy as every other retailer selling the same item. There is nothing for Google to prefer you for.
What Shopify SEO
actually involves.
Technical audit and fixes
Canonicals, crawl control on filtered URLs, sitemap hygiene, redirect chains and the structural issues specific to Shopify.
Collection page strategy
Collections are your highest-intent commercial pages. We structure and write them to rank, rather than leaving them as bare product grids.
Product page content
Original descriptions, structured data, reviews and the specifics that make your listing different from every other retailer's.
Core Web Vitals work
Image optimisation, script deferral and app auditing, measured on real devices rather than a lab score.
Content that supports commerce
Buying guides and comparison content aimed at the searches that happen before someone is ready to buy.
Reporting you can act on
Rankings, revenue and what we're doing next. Not a 40-page PDF of impressions.

Every build ships with this.
- Full technical audit specific to Shopify's known issues
- Canonical and duplicate-URL resolution
- Crawl control for filtered and faceted URLs
- Collection page structure and copy
- Product schema, review schema and breadcrumbs
- Core Web Vitals remediation
- Keyword and content plan mapped to commercial intent
- Monthly reporting tied to revenue, not impressions
Why we'd build this on Shopify
Shopify gives you speed of operation and takes away some control. You can't fully own the server response or every URL pattern. Good Shopify SEO works within those constraints rather than pretending they aren't there.
- Canonical and crawl handling specific to Shopify's URL structure
- Theme-level performance work, not just app recommendations
- Structured data for products, reviews and collections
From first call to launch.
- 01
Technical audit
We start with the platform-level problems, because content work on a broken technical base does not compound.
- 02
Keyword and collection mapping
We map commercial search demand to collections and products, and identify the collections you should have but don't.
- 03
Fix and optimise
Technical remediation, then collection and product page work in priority order by revenue potential.
- 04
Content programme
Buying guides and comparison content aimed at pre-purchase searches, published on a regular cadence.
- 05
Measure and iterate
Monthly review against rankings and revenue, with the next month's priorities set by what actually moved.
What moves the price on
Shopify SEO.
We quote fixed prices per project rather than by the hour, so scope is what determines cost. These are the four things that move it most.
Catalogue size
A 50-product store and a 5,000-SKU catalogue need very different amounts of product and collection work.
Technical debt
A clean theme needs less remediation than one with years of app installs and inline script edits layered on top.
How much content
Ongoing content is the largest recurring cost and the main driver of results. The volume is your call and we'll be clear about the trade-off.
Competition in your category
Some categories are genuinely brutal. We'll tell you before you commit if we think the timeline is longer than you're expecting.
Every project is quoted individually. Tell us what you need and we'll come back within one business day with scope, timeline and a fixed price.
Get your fixed-price quoteMost Shopify SEO proposals start with content because content is easy to sell by the article. But if your products are splitting signals across duplicate URLs and your theme fails Core Web Vitals, the content compounds nothing.

Questions store owners
ask us most.
Why do my products have two URLs?+
Shopify serves products at both /products/handle and /collections/x/products/handle. Left alone this splits ranking signals. It's fixed with correct canonical tags and internal linking discipline, and it's one of the first things we check.
How long before we see results?+
Technical fixes can show within weeks. Content and authority work compounds over months, expect meaningful movement from month three or four, with real volume later. Anyone promising faster on a competitive catalogue is guessing.
Should we block collection filter URLs?+
Usually yes, or handle them with canonicals, depending on whether any of them have genuine search demand. Some filtered views (a colour or size people actually search for) deserve to be real indexable pages. Most don't.
Can you rewrite our product descriptions?+
Yes. Manufacturer copy is the single most common reason product pages don't rank, because you're publishing the identical text as every other retailer. Original descriptions are usually the highest-return content work on a store.
Do we need apps for Shopify SEO?+
Rarely. Most SEO apps duplicate what can be done properly in the theme, and they add page weight, which works against you. We prefer to fix it in code.
Is this a one-off project or ongoing?+
The technical audit and remediation is a project. Ranking and holding rankings is ongoing. We ask for a three-month minimum because anything shorter can't show whether it's working.
