WordPress maintenance, so the site doesn't quietly rot.
Nothing dramatic happens the month you stop updating. It happens fourteen months later, when a plugin with a known vulnerability meets a bot that's been scanning for it.

Most WordPress sites are maintained by nobody in particular. Updates are applied when someone remembers, or applied automatically and silently break a page nobody visits often enough to notice. Backups exist until the day they're needed.
A care plan is unglamorous and it is the cheapest insurance you will buy. Updates tested on staging before they touch the live site, backups verified rather than assumed, and someone who answers when something looks wrong.
What happens when
nobody's looking after it.
Outdated plugins
The overwhelming majority of compromised WordPress sites are running a plugin with a publicly known, already-patched vulnerability.
Backups nobody has tested
A backup you have never restored is a hypothesis, not a safety net.
Updates applied blind
Auto-updates that silently break a template, discovered weeks later by a customer.
Nobody to call
The site goes down on a Friday and the developer who built it left three agencies ago.
What a care plan
actually covers.
Updates tested on staging
Core, theme and plugin updates applied to a staging copy first, checked, then pushed live. Never straight onto production.
Daily backups, offsite
Automated daily backups stored away from your host, with restores actually tested rather than assumed to work.
Uptime and security monitoring
Continuous monitoring with alerts, malware scanning, and a response rather than a notification.
Performance checks
Monthly Core Web Vitals review, so slow decline gets caught while it's still cheap to fix.
Small changes included
A monthly allowance for content edits and small tweaks, so you're not raising a quote for a headline change.
A real person to email
Same-day responses in US business hours from someone who knows your site.

Every plan includes this.
- Core, theme and plugin updates tested on staging
- Daily offsite backups with tested restores
- Uptime monitoring with alerting
- Malware scanning and security hardening review
- Monthly Core Web Vitals and performance check
- A monthly allowance for small content changes
- Priority response in US business hours
- A plain-English monthly report of what was done
Why we'd build this on WordPress
WordPress is well maintained at the core level, but the plugin ecosystem is where risk accumulates. Maintenance is mostly about update discipline and knowing quickly when something has changed.
- Staging-first updates so nothing breaks live
- Offsite backups independent of your host
- Malware scanning and monitored uptime
How the month runs.
- 01
Onboarding audit
We review the current state (plugin inventory, versions, vulnerabilities, backup status, performance baseline), and fix anything urgent before the plan starts properly.
- 02
Staging set up
A staging copy of your site so updates are always tested somewhere safe first.
- 03
Weekly update cycle
Updates applied to staging, checked against key templates and flows, then released to live.
- 04
Continuous monitoring
Uptime, malware and performance monitored between cycles, with alerts going to us rather than to you.
- 05
Monthly report
What was updated, what was fixed, what we'd recommend next. Written in plain English, not a plugin dump.
What moves the price on
a care plan.
We quote fixed prices per project rather than by the hour, so scope is what determines cost. These are the four things that move it most.
Size and complexity of the site
A ten-page brochure site takes far less checking after each update cycle than a 300-page site with membership and e-commerce.
How much is bespoke
Custom functionality needs testing after updates. A site running entirely stock plugins is quicker to verify.
E-commerce or not
A store means payment flows, checkout and inventory to verify every cycle, and downtime costs real money.
Included change allowance
How much routine editing you want covered each month, versus quoting changes as they come up.
Every project is quoted individually. Tell us what you need and we'll come back within one business day with scope, timeline and a fixed price.
Get your fixed-price quoteMaintenance is the least exciting thing you will pay for and one of the few that reliably saves money. The cost of a year of care plans is almost always less than one emergency recovery.
It also keeps the site fast, which quietly protects the rankings you paid to earn.

Questions site owners
ask us most.
What does WordPress maintenance actually include?+
Core, theme and plugin updates tested on staging before going live; daily offsite backups with tested restores; uptime, malware and security monitoring; a monthly performance check; and an allowance for small content changes. Plus someone who answers your email the same day.
Can't I just turn on automatic updates?+
You can, and for a very simple site it's better than nothing. The risk is that an update silently breaks something (a template, a form, a checkout step), and nobody notices for weeks. Staging-first updates catch that before your customers do.
How much does a care plan cost?+
It depends on the size and complexity of the site and how much change allowance you want included. Tell us the URL on the quote form and we'll come back with a fixed monthly price within one business day.
Do you maintain sites you didn't build?+
Yes, that's most of them. We start with an audit of the current state and fix anything urgent before the plan begins. Occasionally we find a site in bad enough shape that maintaining it is throwing money away, and we'll tell you that honestly.
What happens if the site gets hacked?+
We restore from a clean backup, find and close the entry point, and scan to confirm it's clear. That's covered under the plan for sites we maintain, the whole point is that it doesn't become a separate emergency invoice.
Is there a contract?+
Monthly, cancel any time. We'd rather keep clients because the service is worth it than because they're locked in.
